Pura Penataran Sasih

A temple best known for its bronze drum “The moon of Pejeng”. Estimates for its age vary from 1,000-2,000 years old. The diameter of this drum is 160cm, height 186cm, the largest single piece cast drum in the world. Situated in the inner courtyard, its geometric patterns are said to resemble patterns from both Irian Jaya and Vietnam. The legend of its origin says that it came to earth as a fallen moon, one of the 13 moons of the Balinese legend.
